WHO’S WHO & WHAT WE DO

 

FATHER PATRICK ALLEN OSB, Parish Priest and Prior: Father Patrick trained for the priesthood at St Stephen’s House in the University of Oxford and was ordained priest in 1987. Professed as an Oblate of Alton Abbey in 1984, in 1998 he founded the Oblates of Christ the King.

 

BROTHER MICHAEL BAILEY OSB, Pastoral Assistant: Brother Michael is a Charge Nurse at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Chelsea. Professed as an Oblate of Christ the King in 1999, he is to begin his priestly formation in October this year at St Stephen's House, Oxford.

 

BARBARA MARCHAM, Southwark Pastoral Auxiliary: Barbara is a Lay Chaplain at King’s College Hospital, working also in the Bereavement Counselling Department. She recently formed The Lavender Circle for lonely and vulnerable people in the parish.

 

PATRICK EGGLESTON, Ordinand and Treasurer: Former Churchwarden, Patrick, who has worked as an accountant since graduating from the London School of Economics, puts his professional expertise at our disposal as Parish Treasurer. Sub-deacon at High Mass, he is to begin training for the priesthood in September this year at the College of the Resurrection in Mirfield.

Andrew Bradley & Jim Warwick are our Churchwardens. Barbara Marcahm is our lay  Vice-chairwoman.  

 

Eleonore Kostur is our PCC Secretary; Brother Michael, David Neil-Smith and Robert Hill are our Deanery Synod Representatives; Ursula Standring is our Electoral Roll Officer and Stephen Roland, Jean Tester, Gretchen Dickinson, Ruth Cansdale, Peter Leppard, Esther Mercer, Gloria Harper and Joanitah Ssebunya are also members of our Parochial Church Council.

 

Pat Claugher is our Child Protection Representative. Our Lay Chaplain at Trinity Hospice is Lily Jacobs. Dean Warwick and Luke Demetri are our Deputy Sub-deacons. [Dean is also our Sacristan]

 

All enquiries regarding Baptisms, Banns of Marriage, Weddings and Funerals of Parishioners, should be made, in the first instance, to the Parish Priest.

 

The Blessed Sacrament is perpetually reserved for Adoration, Holy Communion and private prayer.

 

A priest is always available to hear Confessions at the stated times and on request.

 

The Holy Oils are available for Chrismation and Anointing of the Sick as required. Please inform Brother Michael if the Sacraments are required in sickness or urgent need.

 

The Sacraments are available day and night in this parish.

 

Our Sunday Club and Crche run concurrently with High Mass on Sundays. Our Bumblebee Nursery meets on weekday mornings in the Undercroft.

 

Our First Communion / Confirmation Group meets on Thursday evenings during Lent / Eastertide at 5pm in church.

 

A Bible Study Group meets on Thursday evenings during Advent at 7.30pm.

 

The 16th Battersea Scout Group (beavers, cubs, scouts and sea scouts) meets throughout the week at the Scout Hall, Wickersley Road.

 

The Society of Our Lady of Walsingham (Cell of Our Lady, Help of Christians) meets monthly after Mass in church.

 

The Fairs and Social Committee organises an annual programme of exciting social and fund-raising events. If you have any suggestions, please speak to one of its members.

 

Our Forward in Faith secretary is Peter Leppard. He will gladly give details concerning membership, local meetings and the National Assembly.

 

Our Children’s Society secretary is Ann Warwick. Those willing to take collection boxes or help with Christingles should seek her help.

 

Father Patrick is Honorary Chaplain to the following local Schools: The Bumblebee Nursery School (Montessori); John Burns Primary School (JMI); Parkgate House (Preparatory School) and Shaftsbury Park Primary School (JMI).
