Credo THIS WE BELIEVE . . .
WE BELIEVE in and embrace the Apostolic and Ecclesiastical Traditions of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic
Church of Jesus Christ.
WE
BELIEVE the Sacred Scriptures according to the sense which Holy Mother Church has always held, to whom it appertains to judge
of the true sense and interpretation of the same; neither will we ever take and interpret them otherwise.
WE
BELIEVE that there are truly and properly seven Sacraments, to wit the two Gospel Sacraments of Baptism and the Eucharist,
which are necessary for salvation, and the five Ecclesiastical Sacraments of Confirmation, Reconciliation, Anointing of the
Sick, Ordination and Matrimony, that they confer grace, and that of these Baptism, Confirmation and Ordination cannot be repeated
without sacrilege.
WE
BELIEVE the doctrine of the Catholic Church concerning original sin and justification.
WE
BELIEVE that in the Mass there is offered to God a true Sacrifice for the living and the dead, and that in the Most Holy Sacrament
of the Eucharist there are really, truly and substantially present the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus
Christ. We further believe that under either Kind alone the whole Christ and a true Sacrament is received.
WE
BELIEVE that there is a Purgatory and that the souls of the dead therein detained, are assisted by the prayers of the faithful.
WE
BELIEVE that the Saints reigning in heavenly glory are to be honoured and invoked, that they offer their prayers for us, and
that their relics should be venerated. We further believe that representations of Christ, of his Holy Mother and also of the
Saints are due appropriate honour and veneration.
WE
BELIEVE that the Catholic Church rightly proposes devotions for the faithful which are both wholesome and beneficial.
WE
BELIEVE that real Christian Unity can be restored only by the return of all Christian Churches to the principles of unity
exemplified by the Undivided Catholic Church during the first ages of her existence, in Full Communion with the Apostolic
See of Rome.
WE
BELIEVE the Catholic Faith as delivered, defined and declared by the Ecumenical Councils and that the Catholic Church alone
has authority to define Christian doctrine.
THE ‘FORWARD IN HOPE’ MISSION
STATEMENT
Rejoicing in and re-dedicating ourselves to our mission and vocation to call all people into the
saving fellowship of Christ’s Holy Catholic Church, we commit ourselves to securing, in whatever ways possible, structural
provision within the Church of England for those opposed to the ordination of women to the priesthood and episcopate, which
will maintain Holy Orders as the Church has received them.
